Simple Solutions to Complex Problems

Quick reminder that I am doing a full day of Chiropractic Nutrition in Southampton on Sunday, March 22nd, sign up for the early bird fee and join the evolution of Chiropractic and learn how to pick the low-hanging fruit functional blood chemistry analysis offers.

A common comment I get when seeing new patients is how comprehensive our health questionnaire is, and rightly so.

I need data, and I want it collected for me. I am looking for signs and symptoms that MIGHT mean my patient will not respond to care as I know they can. Or explain why they have had care with other practitioners and not responded.

If I can walk in, assess the patient’s ROM (quantity and quality), strength/muscle response, and pain, improve it significantly, and sustain that, and leave I am happy (and so are they).

The issue is that is getting harder and harder to do, as people are walking in with more and more chronic conditions which complicate our neuro-mechanical world.

I am on the look out low hanging fruit and while burning mouth syndrome (BMS) might seem irrelevant, it is a clue to nutritional issues that might stop your care working.

Here a few easy things to check:

B12 – needed (with folate) to make new cells, and your mouth and gut cells are turned over every 3-5 days, hence why mouth ulcers may also be a symptom.

Look for other symptoms that fit with B12:

And check any bloods that have been done already and look for grey zone levels.

And look for a mean cell volume (MCV) higher than 90 fL.

Check this case study:

“One month therapy was sufficient to achieve a complete remission of burning mouth and the patient referred a further improvement of memory loss and confusion”

For this, follow the B12 protocol with Liposomal B12:

And also iron deficiency usually without anaemia.

We talked about that here:
https://academyofchiropracticnutrition.com/introducing-non-anaemia-iron-deficiency/

In once study they found a prevalence of iron issue in 20% of BMS patients.

Histamine intolerance is also another cause to be considered.

Remember our DAO is a simple solution to diagnose and treat histamine intolerances, which can give a very wide range of symptoms.

Worth a re-read:

There are other things to look at as well:

  • Fungal infections (white tongue and history of antibiotic use)
  • Metal allergies
  • Zinc
