A juicy update for you today, two nutrients for nerve pain.
Here is a concept to consider: Consider a clinical condition that you, a Chiropractor wouldn’t see per se as it’s too severe, or out of our remit, but affects a tissue you do care for.
Could we learn anything from the extremes of care?
I say yes, and we can use diabetic neuropathy as a good example.
This is a severe condition with ongoing damage to nerves.
So, if a trial can generate some clinically significant changes to their symptoms and actual nerve function, then I am interested in seeing if those nutrients can also help my chronic pain patients, especially those with direct nerve pain generator.
Here we have alpha lipoic acid (ALA) and methylcobalamin (B12) for diabetic nerve pain.

They were given 1500 mcg B12, 100 mg ALA, 900 mcg folic, 3 mg B6, 10 mg B1 or placebo for 3 months (plus standard medical care for diabetics).
The results were lower neuropathic pain scores, lower VAS scores and better vibrational threshold perception in the nutritional group.

And this is not an isolated study.
But can we extrapolate for our chronic pain patients?
That is a big yes.
Radiofrequency treatment with or without ALA for lumbar nerve pain?

The results, both groups had overt changes but more so in the treatment group.

And B12 for back pain? Sure, before and after 2 months of Methyl B12.

Now remember I use treatment stacking to amplify effects.
So, we have META-BOOST which is ALA and Acetyl L Carnitine (the acetyl gets it across the blood-brain barrier) and super-oxide dismutase (SOD).
Carnitine is a powerful pain reliever by blocking the main excitatory neurotransmitter GLUTAMATE.
And helps your mitochondria work more efficiently by burning fat as a fuel.

And thus is an anti-inflammatory, hence this study on RA.

And SOD is the apex anti-oxidant most people have never heard of. We use the patented and tested EXTRAMEL, a whole food extract harvested from organic melons in France.

More anti-oxidants = less oxidative DAMAGE and less pain.
Personally, I love doubling up with our patented TURMERIC PLUS, with phytosomal curcumin and boswellia.
Here we see the patented boswellia (Casperome) in our products and ALA for cervical and lumbar nerve pain.

Slighly weird set up

And the results are clear.

I use them together, often with Liposomal B12 for a trial of 4 weeks.
If, after 2–4 weeks, nothing has changed, then it is unlikely to start after, so stop and do something different.
Combine with high quality neuro-mechanical care and you have a winning combo.
